I wish to write a testimonial for Steve Champion-Smith, an exceptional organiser and hard worker.

In 2023, Guernsey welcomed over 3,000 athletes for 8 days to compete in 14 sports - many of them International Athletes. The organisation for this took a good 12 months (and longer!), and Steve, a volunteer and on the main organising board, was in charge of all the logistics and accommodation, no small feat to house 3,000+ in hotels etc.

 

It was vital that these elite athletes were looked after well, which he did, and, quite as important, had their travel made easy and, indeed, travel within Guernsey to all the venues and events made smooth and on time.

Steve used his many contacts and expertise to make sure that the Games flowed well and the whole Island was impressed at the end result. Steve worked well with the Committee members such as the Games Director and the Volunteer Director.

In short, I can recommend Steve as a dedicated worker; he will solve problems, act decisively and make sure the end result is exceptional. The contacts he has in logistics and supply chain is a bonus and was proved so for Guernsey's successful Island Games.

Quite frankly, as Chair of the organising Committee of the International Island Games in Guernsey, I could not have done it without Steve.
